Once again, the Natural World is a source of inspiration and wonder for HIGH.
For HIGH Tech Autumn Winter 2020 we look to the extraordinary plants that have evolved to flower at night, often being more brightly coloured than day blooming flowers in order to stand out in the dark.
HIGH Tech takes inspiration from these sophisticated and surprising flowers and adds new bright colour to the collection; cyclamen pink , chartreuse green, electric blue, bright white, powder pink and bordeaux are mixed together with the winter classics of black and navy blue.
While Cyclamen blooms in pale pink and white it is most visible in bright red, shocking pink and deep purple. Today’s most common species originates from Persia, and is as robust as it is beautiful ; a single root can last for decades ( it has been known to last a century ) and still flower. In Japan the Cyclamen has become the symbol of eternal love. The colour of this beautiful, long lasting plant is a key colour for HIGH Tech 2020 and a symbol HIGH performance durability.
There are people who claim that, like absinthe, chartreuse is psychoactive. Green Chartreuse does share at least two similarities with Absinthe: it is the same colour and has the same whopping 55% alcohol by volume. The shade HIGH Tech has selected certainly packs a punch! especially set against this seasons darks.
Electric blue is a colour whose definition varies but its meaning has broadened to include shades of blue that are metaphorically "electric" by virtue of being "intense" or particularly "vibrant".
Bordeaux is a deeply decadent, wine inspired hue. It’s an elegant shade that is often also considered a passionate colour. The personality traits associated with Bordeaux are individualism and the desire to be unique.
The dynamism and versatility of this collection, translate into different "stories" designed for different occasions of use.
The bright eye-catching colored outerwear stands out in the collection: padded jackets in chartreuse, cyclamen and electric blue, a powder pink and electric blue “teddy bear” wool coat.
Office-wear remains as important as ever, with new pieces designed for modern professionals in high performance fabrics. The AW 20 collection also includes herringbone polyester, new volume skirts, cigarette pants and pinstripe joggers.
HIGH Tech is synonymous with “athleisure” - a much over-used, over-simple term to describe a rather complex category of clothing. HIGH tech jackets, tops, joggers, shorts and leggings are created with multiple functions in mind. They are visibly different to look at, comfortable to wear, easy to maintain and appropriate for the occasion.
Elsewhere in the collection we see references to mid-century High Fashion in a “tech couture” capsule of shifts and little black dresses in black “scuba” jersey and winter sensitive, 3D floral crêpe, tech velvet and tech matt/shine satin.
The “matt and shine” technique is something that HIGH Tech excels in. It relies on the ability to cut double face fabric both ways. The result is a subtle, but constant change of tone, shade and surface texture.
This season we have all-black jersey tailoring and separates that work wonderfully well in the day or evening, including a shawl collar tuxedo with wide palazzo pants.
The Winter season is party season and the HIGH tech collection contains ultra glamorous pieces using sequins, tech velvet, satin and tech taffeta, that will ensure you look your absolute best whatever the occasion. The secret lies in the confidence that comes from wearing high performance fabrics that will stay looking fabulous all evening.
Finally, returning to this season’s “Night Flower” theme, there is a capsule collection of ultra-feminine evening wear in a simply stunning floral print on sheer black.
