If there’s such a thing as the German ideal, Munich embodies it, often topping the list of the world’s most liveable cities.
It’s easy to see why, it has lakes and mountains on its doorstep, a whole host of historic and cultural sights along with world class hotels, restaurants and glittering shops. The HIGH Boutique is situated: Amiraplatz 3 (Luitpoldblock).
While post-reunification Berlin has reasserted its old role as the international cultural centre of Germany, Munich still has much to recommend it ; here is a selection of our favourite attractions.

The Englische Garten (“English Garden”)
is one of the largest urban parks in the world and has undergone constant change throughout the centuries as new buildings and green spaces were added.
Today the Englische Garten offers numerous leisure time activities. Cyclists and joggers train on the 78-kilometer-long (48.5 miles) network of paths, and amateur soccer players meet on the fields for recreational games.
The Japanese teahouse first opened in 1972 on the southern end of the park on an artificial island in the Schwabinger Bach (stream). Japanese tea ceremonies are performed here regularly.

Rathaus-Glockenspiel
Every day on Marienplatz, a huge mechanical clock celebrates the wedding of a 16th century Duke famous for building the first brewery in Munich.
43 bells and 32 life-sized figures come to life daily in the 260 foot tower, reenacting two scenes from Munich’s history. The top part of the clock recounts the story with mechanical jousters representing Bavaria in blue triumph over knights of Lothingren in red.
On the lower portion of the glockenspiel, coopers (barrel makers) twirl through their famous Schäfflerstanz, a local dance.
The show starts daily at 11am, with additional shows at noon and 5pm in the summertime, lasting 12-15 minutes long.

Museo Brandhorst
Since its opening in 2009, Museum Brandhorst, situated in the middle of Munich’s vibrant Maxvorstadt neighbourhood, has established itself as one of the central venues for contemporary art in Germany.
Behind the spectacular facade of 36,000 ceramic rods, visitors from all over the world can explore masterpieces of art from the 1960s to the present.
The Museum provides a unique environment to take a closer look at the formative positions of art since 1960. Internationally renowned artists and younger voices are united under one roof.

Villa Stuck
The Villa Stuck is a nationally and internationally renowned place to encounter art from the 19th to the 21st centuries. An important collection of works by Franz von Stuck (1863-1928) and international exhibitions on art around 1900 as well as modern and contemporary art make the Villa Stuck a unique place of art experience.
The Villa Franz von Stucks (built in 1897/1898) combines luxurious staging, a representative artist's studio and private living. The Villa Stuck was celebrated by his contemporaries as a »modern«, if idiosyncratic, sensation.

The Literaturhaus München
The Literaturhaus München is a cultural institution in the centre of the city dedicated to the teaching of literature and the organization of literary events.
In addition to the public events, readings, discussions and exhibitions, the Literaturhaus München also offers training and programs for students and teachers. The Bavarian Academy of Writing offers active, up-to-date literature advice for young authors.
And, of course, there’s always the beer…
